In the church hall of St Joseph's Church in
Bracknell - and therefore publicly viewable
particularly after Mass or during public events
- is this 2200mm x 35mm Gallery of Good
Examples. The figures were chosen by the
candidates for Confirmation in 2014 - and all
them appear in white t-shirts along the bottom!
The gallery was painted by Hugh Gibbons, and as
a thank-you to him the parish send a donation to
the charity Ray of Light which helps educate
disadvantaged girls in Zimbabwe. Note the
noticeboards, which carry news and social
justice campaign information. The Gallery
also features small banners carried by some of
the figures, and several painted items from

FAIRTRADE panel with waving figures outside St Joseph's Church during Fairtrade Fortnight 2014 |

.jpg) This panel was quickly made as a way of meeting the parish's Fairtrade obligation to promote the Fortnight. The words say Like Other Churches Here We 2 Are 4 Fairtrade. The waving figures represent producers and supporters and include Pope Francis - know to be an aficionado - and Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Over 4000 churches, 500 schools and many towns. This may have been the seed of the idea for a great gallery to run along the railings of the church... The panel was used in a Thought for the Week in Bracknell News at that time.  And here's the new 2015 version, using last year's panel but adding the words Like Many Churches & Schools & Businesses and Towns...We 2 Are 4 Fairtrade. |

This Gallery was painted by Hugh Gibbons at the
request of the school in 2013, and went on show
in June. The main figures were chosen by each of
the Year classes and the staff. Altogether there
are nearly 40 elements, most of them good full
and all telling quite a story. The Gallery is embedded in the school so is not on general public view - except during public events such as Mass, fayres, McMillan coffee mornings and the like.
