You might consider getting school polos, sweatshirts and hoodies made from premium quality 50% Fairtrade cotton/50% polyester. Embroidered with your school logo, the shirts are competitively priced.

You can get them from Koolskools, a Fairtrade-certified ethical school clothing company.

Each polo sold to schools through the Traidcraft/Koolskools scheme will generate 50p - to be split between Traidcraft’s charity and the Tabitha orphanage in Mauritius, where the garments are made – in addition to guaranteeing fair trade benefits to cotton farmers and garment-makers.

On the right, pupils at Ashcombe - a big secondary comprehensive in Dorking - are up in arms in favour of Fairtrade. (That banana?  Yes, well.)

Koolskools help turn Bitterne into Win/Winners

Students led the way in wanting to be able to buy a Fairtrade cotton uniform product at Bitterne Park School (BPS) a big secondary comprehensive in Southampton.

They decided to work in a mutually beneficial business and educational partnership with Koolskools.

The BPS Shop sold th e clothing, and Human Resources Manager, Robyn Myers, commented that the polo shirts were 'of an excellent quality of material. They are also competitively priced, which means that the parents get a good deal for their well-spent money.....so far our sales are through the roof!

Writing in an article about the project for the “Hot Tips” section of the Fairtrade Foundation website, Deputy Head Teacher Simon Graham said: “...our belief is to educate our students through the curriculum and other extra-curricular activities so that they can make informed decisions. Offering Fairtrade products to students and parents is a new and exciting dimension in Bitterne Park School and making a difference to the world we live in.

The p

artnership with enabled BPS to win the 'Best young enterprise company within Southampton' award at the 2011 Young Enterprise finals.  They've certainly been speaking out for Fairtrade!

Helping real advocates for Fairtrade

Here's a Koolschools account of a visit to St Mary’s Catholic Primary in Bodmin, Cornwall, during Fairtrade Fortnight 2012.

"Andy did a half hour presentation to the students about Fairtrade cotton and the Koolskools project, and it was clear from the very first minute that their knowledge of Fairtrade was exceptional."

"But not only that, the school and students have become real advocates for Fairtrade in their area. We are pleased to say that just before Fairtrade fortnight they bought some Koolskools Fairtrade cotton polos, logoed them up with the popular We Are a Fairtrade School symbol, and went to the other schools in the area spreading the Fairtrade message."

"Add to that the £200 they raised during Fairtrade Fortnight for Traidcraft and you end up thinking to yourself What a Fairtrade School!"

The photo on the right shows the Fairtrade Action Team at St Mary's.
