Many thanks to everyone in the parish and schools
who've supported the Bracknell Food Bank

NB And special 2013 thanks to all in St Francis Primary.  Each week, a Year gathered items to send over to the Food Bank (a Good Idea for other schools next year).

As part of our outreach to those in need, we started to contribute to this good cause in October 2012, with the Primary School adding a special Harvest collection.  Together we've taken dozens and dozens of bags and boxes over to the Kerith Centre - and it's good that people bring things along each weekend to go in the box in the narthex.

Here's our leaflet which people took home and pinned up as a reminder.

Bracknell Foodbank is part of a national network of foodbanks giving out nutritionally balanced emergency food to people in crisis who have nowhere else to turn.

They also offer additional support to help break the cycle of poverty, putting people in touch with relevant agencies who can offer further support.

The Foodbank partners with front-line care professionals, who identify people in crisis and give them a voucher. On taking their voucher to the Foodbank Centre, people receive a warm welcome, a hot drink and a foodpack.  Food is donated by the people in the area (see the food list on the right). Volunteers sort and pack the food into foodpacks. Each foodpack contains enough food for 3 days.

They also put people in touch with agencies who can help resolve the underlying causes of the crisis.

On occasion they will take food-packs to those people who are unable, through special circumstances, to access the food-centre during its opening hours:

The Bracknell Foodbank is open three times a week:
Mondays from 12 - 2pm, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 - 2.30pm
