During Lent 2012, parishioners gave generously to the parish project with the remarkable Medaille Trust - echoing the previous support of the parish's UCM.

We raised way over £2200 for its work. The sources included personal donations, collections, and the proceeds from a raffle at the St Patrick's Day parish party in the school hall.

Parishioners were also generous with a great supply of "...crates full of toiletries for the safe houses. People have been so very generous and thoughtful, even making up individual bags of essentials and luxuries with a personal touch."

Massgoers got a first-hand briefing from Sister Ann Teresa, Trustee and founding member of The Medaille Trust (right) with Josie, a member of the St Francis J&P Group.

The Medaille Trust was was founded in 2006 by a number of religious congregations in response to the plight of thousands of people who are being trafficked into the UK each year.

The Trust was established as a charity and opened its first safe house in January 2007. A major part of the Trust’s work is to raise awareness of the plight of those who are enslaved and exploited in the trafficking industry, and campaign on their behalf.

Her visit also helped raise awareness and appreciation within schools of the work of the Trust.
