WELCOME to a website supplementing the Justice & Peace information at the parish www.stfrancisascot.co.uk/Justice.htm

This one aims to carry detailed and up-to-date news about what we've actually been doing for Justice & Peace.

Justice & Peace is very much about addressing the question that so many people in Catholic parishes ask today: how can we help and respond to those communities and individuals in need - locally, nationally, and across the world?

As with other parishes, at St Francis we've been committing J&P for many years!

But we thought it would be useful to show and celebrate the different ways we have of actually working for social justice - by our parishioners, schools, groups and others.

Catholic dioceses in England & Wales (and in many other countries) have their own form of Justice & Peace commission. For information on the National J&P Network, please click here.

In Portsmouth Diocese, matters relating to J&P have been steered through the Department for Pastoral Formation which offers a wide range of activities for parishes to engage with its issues.

You may also be interested in the resources and information provided by the UK organisation Catholic Social Teaching.

St Francis now has a small J&P steering group, started in late 2011. Our purpose is to help promote and encourage social justice activities in the parish as a whole.

The Group meets up occasionally, and anyone in the parish and beyond is welcome to come along and join in the discussions.

If' you'd like to get more information or updates on Justice & Peace activities in the parish, just contact hughgibbons@just1.org.uk

Or keep your eye on the newsletter or the noticeboard - or this website.
